The GCC is composed of representatives from the 7 global regions of indigenous peoples, representatives of indigenous youth and women, and the two co-convenors of the IPMG.

The GCC acts as the global mechanism for coordination and decision-making for the IMPG’s engagement at the global level.  It therefore endeavors to conduct a face-to-face annual meeting during the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) for planning, and strengthening its coordination and implementation of its plans and programmes, among others.

The GCC maintains an email listserve for its regular communication.

Each member of the GCC has the following functions and roles:

1. To conduct outreach and Information dissemination on the 2030 Agenda-related processes, documents, activities, etc., which can be done through various forms of communication channels (regional list serve, Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
2. Coordinate the engagement/participation of indigenous peoples’ representatives from the country level to regional and global processes on the SDGs.
3. Coordinate the gathering of inputs and views from IP organizations in the respective regions/sector (youth and women) for the preparation of reports, statements and other interventions of the IPMG as appropriate.
4. Maintain regular and active communication with the global focal organizations through their designated focal persons.
5. Participate in the meetings of the Global Coordinating Committee of the IPMG
