Dengue infected over 750 people in Mizoram since 2012

Aizawl, January 16, 2018 - As many as 786 cases of dengue were reported in Mizoram in the last six years since the first case was detected in 2012.

However, no death due to dengue has been reported so far,” State Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) Dr Pachuau Lalmalsawma told ZoramObserver.com. Dr. Pachuau said the highest cases of dengue was found in Aizawl East area (district) at 485, followed by Aizawl West district at 179.Mizoram health department record also shows that at least 54 people were infected with dengue in Kolasib districts during six years since 2012, while 23 others were infected with the disease in Lunglei district. As many as 22 people were infected in Champhai district, 8 in Mamit district and 2 each in Lawngtlai and Serchhip district. Siaha district in southern Mizoram recorded zero case of dengue in six years. In 2012, out of the 90 people suspected in seven districts apart from Aizawl West and Aizawl East, 6 people were found to be infected with dengue. In 2013, 7 people were identified with dengue, while in 2014, 19 people were found affected by the disease.

In 2015, 43 cases were reported and in 2016 dengue affected at least 591 people. In 2017, at least 120 people were infected with dengue.
