More than 20 participants from 9 countries, namely, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines and Thailand participated in the “Leaving no one behind” regional capacity building program on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This was co-organized by the Diplomacy Training Program and Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact last June 21-25, 2017 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The training was to mark the 10th anniversary of the UNDRIP.
“The training was extremely helpful and relevant especially concerning my work areas,” said Leika Yumnam from India.
Meanwhile, Carlos Manalansan from the Philippines said, “The training was helpful in understanding the fundamentals of SDGs in the context of the assertion of indigenous peoples to lands, rights and territories. Also, it provided basic concepts that are useful in our own advocacy and campaign work."
