ABOUT EVENT
The Voluntary National Review is an important process where multistakeholder involvement is very important. Previous experiences of Indigenous Peoples in the VNR indicate that there is limited or no participation at all of Indigenous Peoples including indigenous women in the process. There is also the lack of awareness of many indigenous communities on the SDGs in general.
This side event will be VIRTUAL and will highlight how Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines, Cameroon, Botswana, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Argentina, Tuvalu and Uruguay have been or have not been involved in the VNR and in the SDG implementation in general. The side event will also highlight the importance of the inclusion of Indigenous Peoples in COVID19 recovery efforts.
