A conversation with Chandra Roy-Henriksen on indigenous peoples of the world

The United Nations designated 2019 the International Year of Indigenous Languages to recognize their importance to culture and identities across the globe.

 

Almost half of the 7,000 indigenous languages are in danger of disappearing according to the UN.

 

Anchor Elaine Reyes sat down with Chandra Roy-Henriksen, Secretariat of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York City. They discuss language preservation and other issues and challenges affecting indigenous populations especially in the Americas.
