Indigenous Women Leaders at #UNPFII17

The Laura Flanders Show: We speak to indigenous women leaders at the 17th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) at the UN Headquarters in New York. Among them are Kandi Mossett (Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara of North Dakota), of the Indigenous Environmental Network; Lucy Mulenkei (Maasai, Kenya) of the Indigenous Information Network; Yasso Kanti Bhattachan (Thakali, Nepal) of the National Indigenous Women Forum; and Otilia Lux De Coti (Quiché Maya, Guatemala) of MADRE. The session was titled "Local and Global Strategies for Countering Migration and Displacement." The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung—New York Office, together with the international women’s rights organization MADRE, welcomed a delegation of Indigenous women leaders from across the world to participate in the UNPFII.
