Strongly condemn to persecution of the Philippine government against indigenous rights defenders

Activists Victoria Tauli-Corpuz and Joan Carling were included in the list of terrorist groups of the government of Rodrigo Duterte

World outrage caused in the last hours the inclusion of two prominent indigenous activists in a list of terrorist groups published by the Ministry of Justice of the Philippines.

Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and Joan Carling, co-coordinator, of the Major Group of Indigenous Peoples for Sustainable Development are recognized worldwide for their struggle in favor of the recognition of indigenous rights.

CHIRAPAQ, Center for Indigenous Cultures of Peru, expressed through an statement its solidarity with both and called on the Philippine government to backtrack on the unjustifiable use of this qualifier.

They also called on the indigenous organizations of Peru and the world to raise their voices in protest against this political persecution.
